Last week everything changed as we became aware of the implications of the Corona virus first reported in China. Initially it seemed like it was "another side of the World"problem but then BANG, we are all being asked to avoid all face to face social contact to slow down the spread of the infection.
Moy and I are very lucky as this isolation will not have any impact upon our income but it is clear that everyone who is working will be seriously impacted and many employers will close down. The Governments Powers are limited when faced with a crisis such as this and they will, I am sure, face criticism from many quarters. I sincerely hope it does not result in civil unrest and the break down of society which is entirely possible.
Avoiding contact with the infection, washing our hands and avoiding touching our nose, mouth and eyes are the major things we can do. We will be staying in the house until further notice except for the unavoidable shopping trips.
I intend spend some of my time improving my post processing skills and maybe use them to create some new images.
I also plan to get around to the job of scanning the old family photographs into a digital format.
Hopefully something good will come out of the experience.
I do hope we do not catch the virus and that all our friends and family remain
well or recover quickly. Fingers crossed. I hope anyone reading this
also keeps safe and stays well.
Good Luck!
Coronavirus has placed everyone without exception throughout the world in the same boat and vulnerable to infection. I am not sure from where this virus was born and escaped. The world was caught with its pants down and now it is paying the price. I am no Nostradamus but I suspect eventually when this is all over, the world will most definitely change. I think some changes at least in the UK will be in the form of government, health, economics, retail, employment, travel and sadly due to greed and selfishness society.
ReplyDeletePutting all forms of cynicism to one side I do think that the government under the circumstances are doing their best, we have no option but to trust them and their advice.
Annette and I are following the advice as much as we possibly can. We do not and will not bulk or panic buy, but we will have to shop (normally) as and when it is necessary.
Generally confined to the house and garden, catching up on jobs also the photography albeit limited continues. Best wishes to all, please stay safe and adhere to the rules and advice for everyone’s sake.
Moy and I are also taking the Government advice to self isolate and avoiding all social contact. We are trying to get things delivered where possible but the supermarket's delivery slots are all booked up for the next two or three weeks. I am disgusted by the selfish attitude of those shoppers who are stripping the shelves and was very moved by the nurse who, having come off a 48 hour work stint could not get her basic groceries as a result. Shame on all you "COVIDIOTS" who are not taking this thing seriously and are being selfish. There is a serious chance many of our age group could die despite our best efforts. Not a nice thought. Stay at home, stay safe!
